Portions of southeast Iowa are currently experiencing drought conditions. At this time, all of Lee County and sections of Van Buren and Des Moines counties are abnormally dry. Across Iowa, 5.48 percent of the state is abnormally dry, nearly twice the amount from last week. According to the USDA, 96 percent of Iowa has adequate or surplus topsoil moisture and 94 percent of the state has adequate or surplus subsoil moisture.

Overall, 20.54 percent of the Midwest is experiencing drought conditions.
