The annual Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball tournament has come and gone, and the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves (11-11 overall) had a very successful week. Unable to advance to the conference’s championship bracket on Thursday, the Wolves made the most of their appearance in the league’s consolation bracket on Saturday in Lone Tree.

The Wolves dropped one game during the tournament, winning the consolation bracket by defeating the Iowa Mennonite School (21-18, 21-15), the Wapello Arrows (21-12, 17-21, 21-19), and the Lone Tree Lions (21-14, 21-17).

W-MU had three players record double digit kills during Saturday tournament play. Junior Ashley Kruse led the way with 15 kills. Sophomore Pearl Krieger-Coble recorded 10 kills and blocked seven balls. Senior Cassidy Lennie smashed 10 kills and made 10 digs defensively.

The Wolves nearly doubled their win total during the SEISC volleyball tournament, winning five matches to even their overall record at 11-11.

W-MU returns to the court tonight, hosting the Highland Huskies (14-6 overall) in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North showdown. This is the second meeting between the schools this season with Highland defeating W-MU in three sets (25-23, 23-25, 15-9) on August 29 in the West Branch volleyball tournament. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. at Winfield-Mount Union High School.
