The Iowa Mennonite School volleyball team advanced to Saturday’s consolation round of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Tournament in Lone Tree.

IMS fell in their first match of the day to the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves in a two game sweep by scores of 18-21 and 15-21. IMS was led in the match by Jess Bender with seven kills, Alijah Beatty had nine assists and Natalie Graber finished with five digs. IMS stands at 6-14 on the year as they enter the home stretch of their schedule.

That run begins tonight with a road trip to Lone Tree. This is the first meeting between IMS and the Lady Lions this year. IMS is trying to put together a run after losing 12 of their last 13. Iowa Mennonite is led on the year by Natalie Graber with 87 kills and 111 digs and Alijah Beatty with 202 assists.

Lone Tree is coming off of a Saturday at the conference tournament in which they went 2-1 with wins over WACO in three games 19-21, 21-14 and 15-13 and a three game win over Central Lee 21-19, 21-23 and 15-9 before falling to WMU in straight sets 14-21 and 17-21. The Lady Lions have won four of their last five matches and are led statistically on the year by Elena Sieverding with 140 kills and 193 digs while Morgyn Edwards has 182 assists.

These two teams split their pair of match ups a year ago with each sweeping the other. Action begins tonight at 7:30 at Lone Tree High School.
