The Iowa Mennonite School cross country teams made the trip north to Center Point Urbana Tuesday night to run at the Stormin’ Pointer Invitational.

The IMS girls had runners compete in both the JV and varsity races for the first time on the year. In the JV race IMS was led by Calli Shaw with her 13th place finish and time of 24:59. Lydia Kravchuk finished the race in 42:12 for Iowa Mennonite taking 59th. IMS had two athletes compete in the varsity competition for the first time on the year, Rachel Geyer and Mackenzie Gutierrez. Geyer ran a personal best 5k of 28:33 finishing in 50th place, Gutierrez did not finish the race. IMS did not have enough varsity runners to post a girl’s team score, Marion won the varsity title with their score of 43 points.

On the boys side of the event Iowa Mennonite had all three of their runners post their best time of the year at CPU. IMS was led by Jacob Boller in 61st with his time of 22:18. Other IMS runners included Jim Wang in 63rd with a time of 22:26 and Micah Miller 75th in 25:56. Iowa Mennonite did not have enough varsity boys runners to post a team score. The boys team race was won by Marion with 41 points. IMS will next be in action on October 1st when they travel to West Branch to compete at the City High meet.
