Behind a strong rushing performance, the Sigourney-Keota Cobras (2-2 overall; 1-1 Class A District 6) were able to earn their first district win of the season. Cobra senior running back Peyton Crawford rushed for a game-high 357 yards and six touchdowns, propelling Sigourney-Keota to a 52-35 victory over the Pella Christian Eagles (2-2 overall).
Crawford, KCII’s Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week on June 17, has fared well against the Eagles over the past two seasons. The senior has rushed for a combine 583 yards and seven touchdowns in the last two seasons versus Pella Christian.
The victory improves the Sigourney-Keota Cobras to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 1A District 6. The Cobras host the No. 10 Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks next Friday.
