Blue light bulbs can be seen on front porches across Iowa, thanks in part to Project Blue Light Iowa. The non-profit group distributes the bulbs to be displayed in honor of law enforcement. Brian Waid in Charles City helped start the organization with Eric Long, a former Washington police officer and reserve deputy. Long explains seeing the lights gives officers on duty a boost and gives them a good feeling.

So far, Project Blue Light Iowa has distributed about 1,000 blue bulbs. The group will be handing out bulbs from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Washington’s Central Park.
