Soybeans in southeast Iowa are on par with the five-year average and ahead of where the crop was at this time last year. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, 59 percent of soybeans in the area are colors and 21 percent are dropping leaves. At this time last year, 47 percent of the crop was coloring and only 12 percent was dropping leaves.
Across Iowa, 21 percent of soybeans are considered in excellent condition, 54 percent are good and 20 percent are fair.
