It was a very successful summer food program this summer in Kalona. The program, operated by Food For All, served 1,100 lunches this year, nearly twice as many as last year, 700 of those were sit down lunches, with 400 lunches packed to go.

Food For All organizer Amy Spencer said they try to encourage those coming to stay and eat, by offering activities to make it a community atmosphere. The guests of the program ranged in age from toddler to the age of 90.

Spencer says the effort was made possible by the numerous volunteers who helped during the summer.

Food For All began in the summer of 2014, and is an effort to build community to help provide food for both body and soul among families and individuals in the Kalona area.
