A Washington woman named one of Iowa’s “Top Five Volunteers” by Governor Terry Branstad is being honored Wednesday for her work as a Kirkwood Community College trustee. A tree dedication is being held for Karen Gorham for her 18 years as a trustee. Tera Pickens, director of the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center, says, Federation Bank and Kirkwood worked together to plan the ceremony and to dedicate a tree on the campus for her years of service, dedication and her impact on the greater community.
Gorham retired from the board in April. Lorraine Williams was named her replacement at that time and won the election to remain on the board last week.
The tree dedication ceremony will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m.
