Over three-quarters of the corn and soybean crops in Iowa are rated good to excellent at this time. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, 25 percent of corn is in excellent condition, 54 percent is good and 16 percent is fair. The soybean crop is rated 20 percent excellent, 56 percent good and 19 percent fair.
In southeast Iowa, 18 percent of corn is mature, eight points behind the five-year average. Soybeans in southeast Iowa are slightly ahead of the five-year average with 41 percent of soybeans coloring and 10 percent dropping leaves.
