Washington County was represented well alt the Iowa State Fair in the FFA floriculture competition this year. In total, 42 exhibitors entered 446 flowers in the show. Emily Mead, of Wellman, was champion in the marigold category. Greta Schmidt, another Wellman resident, was named champion in the other category, while Dylan Shrock or Kalona was reserve champion.
