In Iowa so far this year, 22 people in 21 motorcycle crashes have died. This is fewer than at this time last year, with 51 total motorcycle deaths in 2014, 30 of which were before the start of August. Looking back, there were 41 fatalities in 2013, 56 in 2012, 34 in 2011 and 60 in 2010. In the past five years, the month with the most motorcycle fatalities in the state is August, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.

On Saturday, authorities responded to a single motorcycle accident on Highway 92 near the Four Corners gas station in Ainsworth. At 12:45 p.m., it was reported that a female fell off the back of a motorcycle, but was conscious and alert. Ainsworth QRS, Ainsworth Fire Department, Washington Rescue and Washington County Sheriff’s personnel responded to the accident. Washington County Ambulance transported the female passenger to the University of Iowa Hospitals.
