The Washington and Henry county Early Childhood Board has merged with Des Moines and Louisa counties, the first four-county meeting is being held tonight. The Early Childhood Area board’s director, Tasha Beghtol, explains the merge occurred due to funding being stagnant. The counties joined to cut administrative costs and keep programs. The statewide initiative provides funding for local programs for families with children five years old and younger, such as the Family Connection.
The board currently has vacancies and due to requirements, they are seeking women in Washington or Louisa counties to join the board. The inaugural DHLW board meeting is being held at 5 p.m. today at the Washington Public Library.
