The public is invited to take part in the festivities planned for Winfield’s “Hillbilly Holiday.” That’s the theme for this year’s Crooked Creek Days, which gets underway tonight.

Jennifer Houston is one of the organizers. She says in honor of the theme, they’re holding redneck bingo, a variation of chicken bingo, redneck darts and a hotdog eating contest. There will also be a toilet seat horseshoe contest and the annual cardboard boat regatta, which tasks contestants with making a boat out of cardboard and duct tape that will stay afloat on one of the ponds at Twin Lakes Country Club. The event concludes with fireworks at the country club Sunday night at dusk. For the full schedule, visit the festival’s website.
