Thunderstorms swept through Eastern Iowa throughout the day Monday. A tornado watch was issued at 4 p.m. for Washington County, meaning conditions were favorable for a tornado to form yesterday. Two tornadoes touched down near the Quad Cities. Also, golf ball sized hail was reported near Cedar Rapids.
Washington received four-tenths of an inch of rain. So far this month, Washington is slightly below the average precipitation. For the first 23 days of June we have observed 3.24 inches of rain, while 3.6 is normal. On the year, Washington has received 13.69 inches of precipitation, about 2.5 inches below the normal total precipitation.
