Saturday afternoon four people were taken to area hospitals and one person died in a car accident near Mt. Pleasant. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 15-year-old was driving the Town and Country van when she lost control and rolled into the south ditch. Sarah White-Young, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene, she was not wearing a seatbelt in the accident.

A 13-year-old and a 17-year-old were transported by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospitals. In addition, a 10-year-old and a 15-year-old were taken by ambulance to the Henry County Health Center.

The investigation is ongoing. Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Pleasant Fire and Rescue, Air Evac, Med Fore, Henry County Ambulance and the Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene.
