Thunderstorms swept across Iowa Sunday with the severe portions just south of Washington County, in Jefferson and Henry counties. According to AccuWeather, 0.84 inches of rain was recorded in Washington throughout the day Sunday. Mt. Pleasant received 1.56 inches of precipitation the same day.

The English River at Kalona rose over four feet in the past 24 hours, as of 6 a.m. The river is now 9.77 feet, flood stage for the English River at Kalona is 14 feet.
