Signage is being installed in downtown Kalona denoting the new handicapped parking space. A resolution was passed at Monday’s City Council meeting formally establishing the handicapped spot on the south side of C Avenue,  on the east side of the intersection with 4th Street. The council was approached by citizens who patronize businesses in that area and regularly use the existing handicapped spaces that are nearby. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says the new spot is already painted, and with the resolution passed, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office can begin enforcement if someone were to use it illegally.
