In a battle of undefeated teams the No. 6 ranked Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team traveled to Northeast Gooselake to take on the Rebels last night. The Golden Hawks fell in extra innings in a shootout with the Rebels, 11-10.

The Rebels took the early lead in the second inning going up 2-0, but Mid-Prairie answered in the third to even the score, 2-2. The Rebels scored three more runs in the fourth inning to make the score 5-2.

After a scoreless fifth, the Golden Hawks evened the score again with three more runs to make the score 5-5 after six innings.

Mid-Prairie managed, a one run lead to enter the bottom of the seventh, but Northeast Gooselake counteracted with a run of their own, tying the game and sending it to extra innings.

In the eighth, Mid-Prairie’s offense bursted with four runs to give them a 10-6, however the Rebels bursted Mid-Prairie’s bubble with five runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull off the victory.

The loss is the first for Mid-Prairie as they look to bounce back hosting non-conference opponent Monticello tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Wellman.
