The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks’ softball team (2-0) stepped up to the plate to start the season yesterday playing in a double header against River Valley Conference opponent the West Branch Bears (0-2). Mid-Prairie would take both games in dominating fashion winning 12-0 and 14-3.
Junior Emma Troyer pitched in the first game for the Golden Hawks, giving up just one run and recorded five strike outs. The Golden Hawks had three runners score in the first inning and seven in the fourth inning to help seal the win. Junior Ali Nayler contributed by getting four runners home with three hits in the game.
In the second game, senior Taylor Kurtz pitched, giving up seven hits in the game. Kurtz also had her first home run of the season to help take the victory.
