A 16-year old Washington girl spent her Memorial Day weekend competitively biking all over eastern Iowa. Alijah Beatty took part in three separate competitive cycling events over the holiday weekend, including the Snake Alley Criterium in Burlington, the Melon City Criterium in Muscatine, and the Quad City Criterium in Davenport.

She opened her weekend as the top state finisher in her age division at the Snake Alley Criterium, placing seventh out of the 28 person field. Her best finish came in Muscatine on Sunday, winning her age division’s race at the Melon City Criterium. Beatty closed the weekend as the second best rider in her group at the Quad City Criterium in Davenport.

Beatty continues the competitive cycling circuit this weekend with the Tour of Kansas City in Missouri before the Tour of Galena in Illinois the following weekend. All these races lead up to next month’s National Championships in Lake Tahoe, California.
