The Fairfield Police Department is warning the public about a suspected home rental scam. According to the police department, an unknown number of people have received emails detailing an opportunity to rent a property at 1103 Liberty Drive, and after speaking with the owner of the home, it appears to be a scam. Recipients of the suspicious email are advised not to respond.
The author of the email writes the home is available to rent immediately and that they’re looking for a God fearing person to take care of the house. The individual says the house is being rented because they’ve moved to Texas for a work assignment, and that they would be moving to Hawaii afterwards instead of returning to Fairfield.
In the application, the suspected scammer requests a current address and phone number as well as the number of months rent that can be paid upfront.
