Taking a looking this week in Mid-Prairie sports:
The Mid-Prairie boys’ soccer team will have just one game this week. Their game will be on Monday as they take on the Wapello Indians at Wapello. Senior Jordan Ulin leads the Golden Hawks with seven goals and junior Josh Royal leads the Indians with three goals.
The Mid-Prairie girls’ soccer team (4-4) will be looking to end their three-game skid this week. Their first match up will be at Holy Trinity (6-2) in Fort Madison on Tuesday, then they will be home to take on the Keokuk Chiefs on Friday. The Golden Hawks are lead by senior Ashley Miller with eight goals.
The boys’ golf team will have their conference meet on Tuesday. Freshman Michael Callahan comes in with the best nine- hole stroke average at 52.29. The meet will take place at Saddle Back Golf Course in Solon with Bellevue, Camanche, Cascade, Durant, Monticello, North Cedar, Northeast, Regina, Tipton, West Branch, West Liberty and Wilton participating.
The girls’ golf team will have one more meet before conference play. They will have a triangular meet versus West Branch and Wilton on Monday. On Wednesday, they will have their conference meet in Muscatine at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course.
The boys’ and girls’ track team will have their district meets on Thursday at Tipton. The top two finishers of each event will qualify for state. Levi Duwa comes into the district meet off of a first place finish in the shot put at the conference meet in Monticello last week, with a personal best throw of 53 feet and 3 inches. The girls’ 4×100 team anchored by Lexi Duwa, Emily Cayton, Ali Butters and Alex Rath took first place in the conference meet with a time of 51:30 seconds.
