The Highland Huskies are hosting a co-ed track meet today.

Head boys’ and girls’ Highland track coach Jordan Jaspering says the meet has started to really come together after running it the past few years, “We’re really excited, we have a newer track and this will be our third year running the event. For the first couple of years it’s been kind of thrown in what we are doing. Now we are starting to run more of an efficient track meet and we just keep getting better and better.”

Highland’s Keiffer Sexton has had great success running the 1600 meter dash this season. He currently sets third in Class 1A in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:40.13 seconds.

Seven teams are participating in this track meet including, Mid-Prairie, WACO, Lone Tree, Danville, Keokuk and Tipton.

The meet begins at 5 p.m. today in Highland.
