The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks boys’ and girls’ track teams held the Hawk Co-Ed Relays last night.
The girls won first place out of six teams, with 143 points. Anna Hostetler finished in first place in the 3200 and 1500 meter runs. She ran the 3200 meters in 11:24 and the 1500 meter in 5:14. Lexi Duwa also achieved first place in the 200 meter dash in 27.08 seconds. The Golden Hawks received first place in the 4×100 meter relay an event that they qualified for Drake. They finished with a time of 53.17 seconds with senior Lexi Duwa, freshman Shelby Zahradnek, sophomore Emily Cayton, and junior Alex Rath running in the event.
The boys finished in fourth place, out of ten teams; with 64 points. Sophomore Levi Duwa finished in second place in both the shotput and discus throws. He had a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 52 feet and 9 inches an event he will be participating in at Drake. At the discus he threw 138 feet and 9 inches. Ryan Errthum took silver in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:42 seconds. In the 4×800 meter relay the Golden Hawks had a second place finish the participants include; Colin Weber, Peyton Miller, Andrew Schwartz and Jared Draper. The boys distance medley also received second place with; Jack Young, Isaiahan Powell, Weber, and Miller running the event.
The girls’ will stay in Wellman for their next track meet starting tomorrow at 5 p.m. and the boys won’t run until Thursday April 30th at Wayland.
