As we enter the heart of the track season the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks boys’ track team will be hosting a meet in Wellman today.

Mid-Prairie coach Shawn Powell says his athletes will be extra motivated for the home meet and expects to see good performances, “You always take pride at your home turf and the boys are all at the spot now, where we should start seeing personal records in our events. To come home and to have this right now, where we are at, I think it’s the perfect time for it. The track is fast and I think we’re ready to get some great times there.”

The Golden Hawks will look to see sophomore Levi Duwa and senior Colin Weber continue their stellar performances this year. Duwa placed first in the discus with a throw of 149 feet and 9 inches and had a shot put throw of 48 feet and 1.5 inches at the Indian Relays Tuesday. Weber will look to continue his performances in the 400 meter dash. Weber won first place in the 400 at Wapello with a time of 52.28 seconds.

Teams participating in the meet include; H-L-V, Lisbon, Maharishi, Montezuma Community, North Cedar, Springville, Tri-County, Waterloo East, West Liberty and Wilton.

The meet is set to begin today at 5 p.m. in Wellman.
