After winning Tuesday’s non-conference triangular in Columbus Junction, the Washington Demon girls’ golf team (1-0 overall) enters their first dual match of the season. The Demon girls’ golfers are scheduled to play nine holes of golf this afternoon against the Burlington Greyhounds.

Washington opened their season Tuesday afternoon at the Cedar Crest Golf Course, defeating the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks and Columbus Wildcats in a non-conference triangular with 183 strokes. Freshman Sarah Nacos was the medalist of the meet, completing Tuesday’s competition in 36 strokes. Heading into play today, Nacos has the second lowest score of any female golfer in the state.

Junior Denna Peiffer entered the clubhouse Tuesday as the Demons’ second best golfer, recording a 44 on her scorecard. Senior Sarah Waite completed her round Tuesday in 50 strokes.

Burlington’s best golfer thus far has been senior Jadyn Ziegler. Ziegler’s average this season is 47 strokes per nine holes.

The non-conference dual meet between the Washington and Burlington girls’ golf teams tees off at 3:15 p.m. at Filnt Hills Golf Course in Burlington.
