Only one bid, nearly 40 percent above the estimate, was received for a road project in Washington County. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained the project is a culvert extension on Wayland Road. He says the one estimate was for nearly $90,000. Thorius recommends not going with the bid but working directly with contractors. When a project is below $93,000 a bid letting process is not required. The supervisors unanimously approved rejecting the bid received and doing the project through the quote process.
