The Washington Demon girls’ golf team is building their stamina ahead of their first meet of the season. The Demon girls’s golf team has been working at the Washington Golf and Country club since last week preparing for their season opener next Thursday at Lake Cooper Golf Course in Keokuk.

Demon girls golf coach Len Kull says his team’s first competition will include 18 holes of golf, and expects the first meet to be challenging for his girls’. “First of all they will be nervous to get the meet started, but that should wear off quickly.” Kull said, “At the end of the meet they will be really tired, so we are trying hard to build our stamina up.”

Kull expects the girls to be able to play a nine holes of golf straight by the end of the week.

Kull added the competition at the opening season tournament will include familiar foes including Southeast Conference rivals Mount Pleasant, Fairfield, Fort Madison, and Keokuk participating in the tournament. The tournament is being held next Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Cooper Golf Course in Keokuk.
