The Mid-Prairie boys’ soccer team will be hosting a scrimmage against Iowa Mennonite School today as they try to tune up for the upcoming regular season.

Coach Pat Cady explains what their mindset is going into scrimmages and the importance of them, “We’re still looking for team concept items when we walk into scrimmages also in a game. You still want your kids to play at the level of where they should be competing at. Try to get in a basic set and build off that and continue to be more aggressive with the ball, if you lose it even in a scrimmage try to win the ball back within five seconds. Look to see if kids are comfortable and uncomfortable in their positions they are playing. You can take some gambles and figure somethings out, without getting a loss on your record when your trying to get you’re squad figured out.”

This will be Mid-Prairie’s second scrimmage this year. The scrimmage will begin today at 3:45 p.m. at the Mid-Prairie Soccer Complex in Wellman. Their first regular season game will be on Monday against Clear Creek Amana at the Wellman Recreation Center.
