The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks boys’ track team did not get to open up their outdoor season at the Washington Relays due to the cancellation, but did have a few athletes compete at Cornell College for the River Valley Conference Meet on Thursday. The Golden Hawks had a few place finishers in field events during the meet. Sophomore Levi Duwa got first place throwing 52 feet at the shot put.

Mid-Prairie Coach Aaron Flemming stated it’s quite an accomplishment for his sophomore athlete, “In an extremely competitive conference to have a sophomore come away with a win at the shot put is just tremendous. Throwing’s coach Ryan Duwa is doing a great job with Levi Duwa and that was a very exciting event for us.”

Sophomore Isaiahn Powell had a good showing in the long jump finishing in fifth place with a jump of 18 feet and 10 inches.

The Golden Hawks’ next track meet will be Thursday at Mt. Pleasant.
