Yard waste and brush routes around Washington will start March 30th. JJ Bell city maintenance and construction superintendent explains yard waste will be collected weekly, on Tuesdays it will be gathered west of 2nd Avenue and on Thursdays it will be picked up east of 2nd Avenue.
Residents are reminded any organic mixed yard waste, such as grass and leaves, will be collected in designated bags, also bundles of tree trimmings and brush should be tied and no longer more than five feet in length. Residents are allowed to burn dry leaves and twigs, but city ordinances prohibit the burning of any garbage or green, damp yard waste.
Yard waste and brush can also be taken to the Waste Water Treatment Facility on West Buchanan Street weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
