Finishing touches are being made to the Kalona Community Center. The building, which is now home to a YMCA of Washington County branch, has recently undergone a $140,000 renovation.  Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says the area managed by the Y has new lighting, flooring and drop ceiling. He adds they’re 99% done with the improvements, and are now working on smaller tasks, like replacing thermostats and doorknobs.
