A local historian is about to begin a statewide tour where he’ll present some of the oldest and rarest pieces of early film in the world. Michael Zahs and Red Cedar Chamber Music are coming off of this past weekend’s world premieres. The programs featuring films from the Brinton Film Collection were presented to packed houses at the Ainsworth Opera House.

Zahs and the chamber music group’s tour includes stops in cities Washington County couple Frank and Indiana Brinton presented their films at in the 1890s and early 1900s. Their first show is scheduled for this Saturday in Ottumwa. They will also be traveling out of Iowa to Washington, D.C. in August for the National Flute Association’s Convention.
