A spring start is anticipated for the $3.5 million project at Mid-Prairie Middle School in Kalona On Monday, the school board awarded 12 contracts to the lowest bidders for the different aspects of the Home School Assistance addition and installation of a geothermal system.
The board decided to rebid the tile flooring and carpeting due to the fact the lowest bid came in at nearly twice as much as the estimate.
According to Superintendent Mark Schneider, they were able to award most of the contracts to companies within forty miles of the district, something they set out to do when the bond issue that’s funding the work passed last year.
