The Mid-Prairie girls’ basketball team is enjoying a successful season with a current record of 13-6 with just a few games left in the regular season. The defense has been a key of part of the Golden Hawks’ success, giving up an average of just 40.7 points per game.
With the great defense the team has tallied up many blocks this season. Mid-Prairie has 73 blocks this season, an average of 3.8 blocks per game. The 73 blocks is 19 more than the next team in the River Valley Conference with Iowa City Regina at 54. Sophomore Ireland Hostetler who is 5-foot-11 leads the team in the block category with 19 blocks. Sophomore Celia Hostetler at 5-foot-11 has 16 blocks and senior Taylor Kurtz at 5-foot-10 inches has 14 blocks.
Mid-Prairie (13-6) plays in a River Valley Conference match up tomorrow at Wilton (2-16) at 6 p.m.
