The Washington Archery teams had several stellar individual performances this past weekend at the Mount Vernon tournament. As a team, Washington High School finished in third place out of six teams with a score of 3230, just 50 points behind first place Mount Vernon. Washington’s middle school archers finished second as a team with 2962 points, and Lincoln Elementary also finished in second place with 2790 points, just 61 points behind Mount Vernon for first place.
Sophomore John Sands’ had his best shoot of the season, scoring 288 out of a possible 300 points. Sands performance was the second best boys performance of the afternoon out of 215 competitors. Junior Jade Wells finished with a season-best 285 points, helping capture first place overall in the girls’ competition out of 161 archers competing.
Samantha Reigard finished as the middle school’s top archer, scoring 268 out of 300 possible points. Reigard’s performance helped her sixth place in the middle school division and in 10th best finisher in the overall girls’ division.
Lincoln Elementary had four archers place in the top 10 in their division. Olin Wells led the way with a score of 257, finishing second overall in the Elementary division out of 62 competitors.
Each Washington Archery team is scheduled to compete this weekend in the second Washington Archery tournament at Washington High School.
