A Avenue in Kalona has a couple of new no-parking zones. The parking restrictions are being added to the city’s code of ordinances, following the third and final reading of the ordinance amendment at Monday’s city council meeting.

The amendment bans parking in front of the city’s maintenance shop and on the south side of the street beginning at  Highway 1 and extending 200 feet east. Mayor Ken Herington says the distance was originally 550 feet, but after conversations with adjacent homeowners, it was decided to decrease the size of the no parking zone
