Temperature are expected to be below freezing most of the week and with the cold weather remember to take extra care for outdoor animals. Amber Talbot, Director of PAWS and More animal shelter in Washington, reminds people to check their cars for stray cats, as they crawl under the hood for warmth. She recommends banging on the hood of the car to allow the cats a chance to get away.
Talbot states outdoor pets need a place to escape the temperatures and kennels should be kept warm with long stemmed grasses or straw. She also recommends heated water dishes so they always have access to water and it doesn’t freeze. If anyone is concerned for an animal contact the shelter or the safety center.
