The shooting woes continued for the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team Monday evening. As you heard on AM and FM KCII and KCIIRadio.com, the Demons hosted the Marion Indians in the final game of the 2014 calendar year for both schools.
After scoring eight points in the first quarter, Washington could only muster 17 points total the rest of the way in a 45-23 setback. Junior guard Morgan Kimball led the Demons in scoring with seven points, while Sydney Hoffman grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds. The Demons end the year on a four game losing streak, making just 28 percent of their field goal attempts during the streak (32-111).
The game swung Marion’s way for good in the second quarter. After being tied at 11 with under four minutes to go in the half, the Indians finished the quarter on a 13-2 run to take a 24-13 halftime lead. Marion also made the most of their opportunities at the free throw line, making 21 of 25 attempts.
The loss drops Washington to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in conference. The Demons return to the court Jan. 3 in West Burlington against the Falcons.
