Nearly 100 students weighed in 180 market beef animals at Washington County’s Beef Weigh-in for the 2014-2015 year. At Saturday’s weigh-in 98 Washington County 4-H’ers and FFA members had their animals weighed. Students also had the option of nominating market beef for the state fair or Ak-Sar-Ben, which included weighing, tagging, retinal scanning and collecting DNA.
Of the 180 market beef animals at the weigh-in, 35 calves were nominated for the state fair and 13 for Ak-Sar-Ben livestock show.Amy Green, Washington County 4-H and youth coordinator, explains other students can continue to enroll through surrounding counties’ weigh-ins held later this month and next month.
