The WACO School Board will continue to weigh its options for superintendent before making a final decision. No formal action was taken at last night’s school board meeting, but the board did express an interest in having a superintendent that can focus their energy on and maintain a presence at WACO.

Darrell Smith, the current superintendent who is retiring after this school year, was directed to put together job descriptions for a superintendent that would fulfill the duties of other positions, such as high school principal or curriculum director. School Board President Tim Graber says the board discussed having a search firm help with finding a candidate to fill one of those full-time positions or a part-time superintendent position. The jobs will also be posted online.

Entering into a superintendent sharing agreement with Columbus Community or Washington School District is also under consideration.
