An area man was accidentally injured over the weekend by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Saturday morning, 70-year-old James Conger of Ollie leaned over to remove a possum from a live trap when the .22 revolver he was carrying in a coat pocket fired into his leg. The accident happened northwest of Ollie at approximately 7:30 a.m. He was treated for the non life-threatening injury at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, after arriving by private vehicle.
