The Washington Demon boys and girls bowling teams are a week away from starting their 2014-15 season.Washington’s girls bowling team brings back three senior bowlers who have been on the squad since their freshman year. They include Abbey Tisor, Ivy Hamilton, and Kaliey Martin. According to co-head bowling coach Sally Righard, the team’s lone state qualifier in 2014, senior Jessica Loneberg, has decided not to go out for the team this season. Martin returns as the squad’s best bowler, averaging a two game score of 305 last season.
Washington’s 2013-14 boy bowling team had a 5:1 ratio of freshmen to seniors. All five boys return for their sophomore season, including Colin Zear, who was the team’s top scorer in seven of their eight meets last season. Zear ended the last season with a 320 two game average.
The bowling season begins next Friday at Plamor Lanes in Mucatine. Washington is set to compete against Durrant, Louisa-Muscatine, and Central DeWitt.
