The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks volleyball team had their team’s most valuable player get named as a member of the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s all-district team.
Senior middle hitter Taylor Kurtz was named as one of the 12 members of the Class 3A Southeast District team. Kurtz ended the 2014 season as the Golden Hawks’ leader in kills (196), aces (36), and blocks (43). Earlier this month, Mid-Praire coaches named Kurtz as the team’s most valuable player at the end of season banquet. Kurtz also was named as a first team All-River Valley conference volleyball selection.
Kurtz helped guide Mid-Prairie to a 14-17 record, an eight win improvement from the 2013-14 season.
