When a team goes 18-5 on the season, for most programs that is a very successful season. For the IMS boys basketball team it was considered a down year for the IMS as  it was the least amount of wins since the 2007-2008 season.

Head coach Dwight Gingerich says even though it was a down year he thought the team still played really well, ” I thought it was a great year for our guys, we had a lot of young kids playing ,we have graduated some of our top scorers four out of our six scorers, four of those been seniors that have contributed a lot. It’s gong to be tough to replace those guys.”

Gingerich still likes this group coming in to this season. The key players that IMS brings back are Gingerich who had almost nine points per game while shooting 40 percent from the three point area and Kirby Shelter who averaged four points per game. Gingerich knows with a tough conference like the Southeast Iowa Super Conference it will not be easy to pull out victories, “Our league is pretty solid, it’s going to take a great effort on our part, every step of the way throughout the season.

IMS’s first game is at Wapello on  December 2nd at 7:30 p.m.
