Animals that aren’t typically found in southeast Iowa will be on sale in Kalona today. The Kalona Sales Barn is holding their Alternative, or exotic, animal and bird sale, an event they hold only a few times a year. In years past, animals such as camels, zebra, ostrich, emus and yaks have been featured at the sale. More common animals like donkeys, llamas and buffalo have also been sold. The reptile, bird, small animal sale begins at 9, with the hoof stock sale to follow at 10am.
