Due to the heavy volume of leaves this year, Washington’s leaf vacuum is slightly behind schedule. Crews just wrapped up zone 3, which is around East Main Street. The leaf vacuum is anticipated to begin in zone 4, the northeast quadrant, Monday. According to J.J. Bell, Washington Maintenance and Construction Superintendent, when crews get back around the entire town in a couple of weeks, they should be able to say on a more regular schedule.

Residents are reminded to place leaves in the terrace areas and on the sides of ditches to avoid drainage issues.
