Two Southeast Iowa Super Conference rivals will square off this evening in Wayland.
Fresh off their first win of the season last Friday, the 1-4 WACO Warriors will look for their first consecutive wins of the year as they welcome in the 3-2 Lone Tree Lions for a district showdown. Last Friday in Cardinal, the WACO Warriors survived a shootout with the Comets 52-50 to end their four game losing streak to start the season. Senior Tucker Janecek has been a bright spot for the Warriors so far in 2014. Janecek leads WACO’s rushing attack with 770 yards and nine touchdowns.
For the Lone Tree Lions, a victory tonight would extend their current winning streak to three games. The Lions ran all over the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves last Friday evening. The Lions racked up 479 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns on the ground in a 42-30 win over the Wolves. Junior Jared Hudson had 240 of those rushing yards and scored three times in the victory.
