Yesterday morning, Washington firefighters responded to an alarm at Modine Manufacturing at approximately 10:15 a.m. Employees of the company were evacuated. Crews report, allegedly, a smokestack in the building caught fire and filled the building with smoke. The fire was extinguished and crews removed pieces of the smokestack through the northwest door. Firefighters could be seen on the roof of the building but no smoke or flames were visible from the exterior of the building. Washington Fire Department, Washington Police Department, Washington County Ambulance and Alliant Energy responded to the scene. KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.
